Winter

Before I begin, a reminder regarding the poll to the right above the music player: please take it! I have several answers already (thanks to those who partook!), but more is always better. Please :). See the post prior to this one for the full question.

After a long line of portrait-related posts, I bring you some mother nature! Woo hoo. These are all from my Christmas "break" (if you call 4 days off a break). The first day we had just experienced an ice storm. The second day it was snowing like crazy, which was quite the challenge. The third day things were clear, and I believe I like that better, lol. I won't be taking many more photographs in the middle of a snowstorm unless I have a large umbrella over the camera and a built-in heater on the lens (ooo, idea! j/k).

Day 1:

Poor penguin :(

Day 2:

Day 3:

Various shots of the creek:

They call it "magic hour" for a reason:

You know what the worst thing about this was? My butt. I crouched down for several shots, and being that we had 6-8 inches of snow, my butt inevitably ended up with some snow on it. Brrrrrrr.

Random Fall

The weather has been quite dissapointing. I've wanted to get outside to take photos of the beautiful fall colors, however we've had an extraordinary amount of rain. Thus my camera hasn't been seeing too much action lately. Here are a few random shots, taken at completely random times. I hope to get some cute stuff this weekend for Halloween.

This was actually sometime in September, when we still had some green!

I need to buy the 50mm f/1.8 lens. I'm dying to concentrate on some portrait photography.

Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin

This past weekend we made the 6 hour trek up to Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin, for my cousin Ted's wedding. I was very excited at the chance to take my camera along and get some nice shots of the beautiful Northwoods. Unfortunately, the weather did not want to cooperate. The high was 49, it was overcast and raining, and very windy! I felt awful for the bride and groom, but that's another story. So, I didn't get out to take any photos until later Saturday evening and then early Sunday morning, before we left.

That evening, when the clouds finally started to break up:

And the next morning, which turned into an especially beautiful day:

Random Naturey Stuff

I'll be gone for about a week, so a little update before I go! These were taken all over the place.

Hopefully when I get back, I'll have some neat stuff to share!

Road Closed

Thursdays I take a different route to work because I drop off Luke at his babysitter's those days. One particularly pretty morning, I randomly noticed a dirt road to nowhere (?) along my way. It looked so pretty, the way the sun filtered through the trees. I was determined to come back and get a few photos!

This morning I brought my camera with me because we are going to the county fair this evening. When I drove past my favorite spot, I was pleased to see that the road was looking very pretty, as usual!

I decided to play around in Photoshop a bit (thank you, Pioneer Woman, for the PS Action), too:

Guys, I'm kind of obsessed with this road.
