Random Fall

The weather has been quite dissapointing. I've wanted to get outside to take photos of the beautiful fall colors, however we've had an extraordinary amount of rain. Thus my camera hasn't been seeing too much action lately. Here are a few random shots, taken at completely random times. I hope to get some cute stuff this weekend for Halloween.

This was actually sometime in September, when we still had some green!

I need to buy the 50mm f/1.8 lens. I'm dying to concentrate on some portrait photography.

Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Over the weekend, Rob, Luke and I made a trip to Keller's farmstand in Oswego to pick out pumpkins! Keller's has a 30 acre pumpkin patch. We rolled a wheelbarrow out to the field and Rob scampered about, turning over pumpkins in search of what he considers to be the "perfect" specimen. I let him pick out my pumpkin: I was more interested in taking photos of Luke! It was a beautiful day, not too cold, clear skies, bright sun... Actually, the sun was rather aggravating. There are a lot of large circular lens flares smack dab in the middle of my shots. Plus it's not easy to get a proper exposure. But, I figure it is good experience! Thus, several of these I am sharing today are rather dissapointing to me. I am not going to put off the purchase of a lens hood any longer!

Luke had no idea what we were doing to him.

He warmed up after a few minutes, though.

When we wanted to explore a different part of the patch, we put Luke and our pumpkins in the wheelbarrow. It was too cute!

Watching Daddy

Ah, yes, I'd like to purchase these 7 pumpkins...

And for some general pumpkin-y pictures:

Happy fall!

New Items on Etsy!

I've somehow managed to get around to creating some holiday photo greeting cards. There are 7 total...for now! Check them out at prettyfishdesign.etsy.com! I hope to add more over the next week or so, depending on how productive I can be.

Noel

My friend Fabiana loves Winnie the Pooh. Her son's room is Winnie the Pooh themed. He's almost 3 now, but after he was first born she sort of jokingly asked if I would make some sort of Pooh artwork for his room. I did, and she liked it so much that she asked me to make one for her new son, Noel! Noel is almost 2 months old now.

I liked how it turned out :).

Golden Gate Park, Part 2

I loved Golden Gate Park so much that I decided to return on the last day of my trip, as I had several hours of free time before my flight home. During this particular visit I explored Stowe Lake, which is situated towards the middle of the park.

The Roman Bridge.

I took several photos of this waterfall - it was such a peaceful spot!

At one point I was in a heavily shaded area of the park, and a small patch of sunlight was focused on this leaf, so it almost glowed in the darkness:

A pavillion overlooking the lake:

And that, my friends, wraps up the highlights from my trip to San Francisco!

Golden Gate Park (Part 1)

I was fortunate to have quite a bit of free time during my "business" trip, and decided to spend a large portion of that time at Golden Gate Park. The funny thing about the park, I thought, is that it is no where near the Golden Gate bridge. It's huge though, and very pretty. It contains a science museum, art museum, flower conservatory, botanical gardens, and many, many other things. In all my time walking around, I still only saw a fraction of the place! It was a great place to get some pictures.

One of my favorite places was the Japanese Tea Garden. If I had had more time, I would have brought a book and relaxed a bit!

An awesome bridge.

An authentic pagoda (and proof that I SO need a lens hood!).

The Buddha

Experimenting:

Near the museums was the Temple of Music. I kinda had a soft spot for this place!

Well, that's it for today. I have one more batch of photos to share, and then I'm done with S.F.!

Bay Cruise

During our trip we took a champaign and brunch cruise of the bay. This afforded some fantastic views of the city and its most famous landmarks.

The Bay Bridge

Going under...

The Birdman of Alcatraz. HA! I kill me.

While the downtown area was sunny and warm, the area around the Golden Gate was covered in a thick, wet mist. Kinda creepy!

It simply fades away...

Ok, completely unrelated to San Francisco: when I post these photos, the lwidest I can make my horizontal photos is 400px. Any wider and they get cut off by the right-hand column. Does anyone know how to adjust the widths of the two columns on this blog? I want to make the content part wider so I can make my photos larger!
